Directions

From downtown Richmond, locate Broad Street. From Broad Street, turn north on to 3rd Street. North 3rd will turn into North 5th Street. Cross under I-95 and make a left at the first light on to Hospital Street. You will see the Hebrew Cemetery on the right. The Shockoe Hill entrance gate is on the left, halfway down the block.

From points west, via I-64 Eastbound, I-64 will merge with I-95 South. After the merge, follow directions from points north.

From points north, via I-95 Southbound take Exit 75 and keep right immediately onto N 3rd Street Coliseum/Downtown. Take 3rd Street to Jackson Street (the first intersection), and turn left. Go one block and turn left onto N 4th Street. Cross under I-95 and make a left at the first light on to Hospital Street. You will see the Hebrew Cemetery on the right. The Shockoe Hill entrance gate is on the left, halfway down the block.

From points south, via I-95 Northbound, take Exit 75 for I-64 East/N 7th Street. Bear right and take the exit onto North 7th Street. Take N 7th to the bottom of the hill where it intersects the railroad, and turn left onto Hospital Street. The intersection is a little ambiguous and Hospital Street is hard to see. Go to the top of the hill, and continue straight on Hospital Street, crossing North 5th Street. You will see the Hebrew Cemetery on the right. The Shockoe Hill entrance gate is on the left, halfway down the block.

When You Arrive...

The main entrance is the east gate on Hospital Street, which is open daily. The Bates Street entrance is used for most special events, so you may be directed to that gate on occasion.

Parking is available along the side of any of the streets inside the cemetery. Please be mindful that some monuments are located close to the edge of the road.
