Welcome to historic Shockoe Hill Cemetery!

The "Friends of Shockoe Hill Cemetery" is a volunteer group that helps the City of Richmond preserve, improve and commemorate one of America's most historic burial grounds. At this website you can learn about our upcoming Events, discover ways you can help including both active participation in projects as well as financial support, and gain insights into the history of this place. And, while you are here, please sign our Guestbook.

During your visit, you will see the names that represent a "who's who" in Richmond, Commonwealth and U.S. history; enjoy the plants, trees and animals that live in this park-like environment; and marvel at the beauty and artistry of the monuments that span three centuries.

It is our mission to be stewards of one of Richmond's oldest city-owned cemeteries -- celebrating its history, restoring its beauty, and educating the public on its place in community life. The Friends of Shockoe Hill Cemetery is a proud partner of "Verdant Richmond", a non-profit organization through which the Friends group has status as a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt entity. See our member page on the Verdant Richmond site, and make a secure online donation, at  https://verdantrichmond.org/friends-of-shockoe-hill-cemetery/

We'll see you around the Cemetery!

Yours in History,

The Friends of Shockoe Hill Cemetery
