A Small Reminder

Allan office marker

Just south of the Cemetery, just behind the curb near the intersection of Bates and 3rd streets, is this modest echo of Richmond's past...and of the Cemetery's connection both to Edgar Allan Poe, and to his foster father John Allan, who is buried there.

The "Bray" may be John Bray (1790-1871), a Richmond merchant, who also is buried in the Cemetery, not far from John.
