The ongoing maintenance of historic Shockoe Hill Cemetery is a daunting task today. The monuments are showing their age and the huge trees are a constant threat. In this article from The Daily Dispatch 30 August 1876 it is evident that our historic cemetery has had a difficult past even at age 54.
